Brad Paisley is trying out his sense of humor on the The New Yorker magazine. The singer has submitted cartoon captions to the publication's website. While he's never won, Brad will be featured in the August 2nd issue of the magazine.

EMERSON DRIVE LAUNCHES OWN RECORD LABEL
Emerson Drive have launched their own record label called Amdian Records. Their first single is called "That Kind Of Beautiful," and it heads to radio in mid-August. The song has already been released as a single in the group's native Canada. Emerson Drive hopes to release their next album, called Believe, either later this year or in early 2011.

Fiddler David Pichette told The Boot, "These are scary but exciting times. "For the first time, our career is solely in our hands. The future is what we make of it."

The video for "That Kind of Beautiful" is a family affair for Emerson Drive. It features David's 19-month-old daughter, Emma, Jana Mates, the wife of lead singer Brad Mates, while she was pregnant with their son, Tyler, and drummer Mike Melancon's wife, Heather.

Emerson Drive is currently on tour. They play Firefest in Cold Spring, Minnesota on Saturday (July 31st).

He said, "As a songwriter you crave inspiration, and I have never been more inspired than I have been in the past year listening to the lessons and the wisdom from these men and many more who have touched so many lives through the game of football! I have friends in this video. . . a lot of my heroes are in this video. . . so many players and coaches that have shaped the lives of generations are a part of this "

"The Boys of Fall" is already a Top 15 hit only two weeks after its release.

The song will be available at all digital retailers on Tuesday.

RASCAL FLATTS GETS POWERED BY A BIG MACHINE
Rascal Flatts' next album will be released by Nashville-based indie label Big Machine Records, which is also home to Taylor Swift. The trio announced that they had signed with the label during a press conference yesterday (Thursday, July 29th) in downtown Music City. You may recall Rascal Flatts' previous home for the past 10 years, Lyric Street Records, was recently shuttered. The guys were going to be transferred onto another Disney label, but opted to leave the imprint behind, although their catalogue remains with the Disney Music Group.

Rascal Flatts' new CD will be called Nothing Like This, and it will be in stores on November 16th. The debut single, "Why Wait," was released to radio yesterday afternoon.

Joining the Big Machine roster has breathed some new life into the trio, as Jay DeMarcus tells us. "For me, it kind of gives us a breath of fresh air, you know? It's kind of like a fresh start for us, and I think we're more excited now about makin' new music and about gettin' new music to the fans and touring than we have been in a long time. It's kind of re-energized our base a little bit, I think for us, and kind of givin' us some time to look back over the 10 years and be grateful for it but really gear up and have a whole lot of energy for the next 10."

Jay will need some extra energy come January as he and his wife, Allison, welcome their first child. Jay shared some big news with us yesterday. "Actually, we found out this week that it's gonna be a girl, so we're very excited about that. Just what I need -- another girl in the house. (Gary LeVox) Garyetta Don. (Jay) Garyetta Don DeMarcus, so I'm just really excited! They've given me wonderful advice and I'm excited about being a father and trying to do as well as these guys have done. I know that I'll do better than Gary, but tryin' to do as well as . . . (laughs)" .)

Nothing Like This will be Rascal Flatts' seventh studio album.

The trio travels to Virginia Beach, Virginia for a show there tonight (Friday, July 30th) with special guests Kellie Pickler and Chris Young.
