Jack Ingram, Valentines Day and You!
Jack Ingram is coming to the First Mariner Arena this Sunday, February 17th and you could be there in a BIG way. If you win, you and a guest will be escorted to Jack's tour bus. You will meet Jack and be presented with roses, a box of chocolates, and a Jack Ingram Swag Bag. You will tape a filmed Q&A with Jack that will be posted on his website. Then you'll enjoy a private acoustic performance from Jack, followed by pictures and autographs. Finally, you'll escort Jack to the stage and watch from the wings as he performs his first song, before you take your seat and enjoy the rest of the concert. How do you get to do all this? We want the good stuff! Tell us how you met "The One". And we want all the juicy details!!! Write it here on the blog, e-mail us at mornings@wxcyfm.com or call us at 1-800-788-WXCY. from Donna Harman
I met my "one" on a dare. A group of us were out at Hilltop Inn, May 23, 1982. A friend of mine dared me to walk over and throw a lip lock on her friend sitting at the table. It was the first night I had met him and I took the dare. It was bells and whistles when I did and we ended up hopelessly in love with each other for the past twenty-four years. Unfortunately, I lost him last May to mesotheiloma cancer but I still can feel those butterflies in my stomach when I think about that kiss.

Yes, I agree. This couple were very much in love and she still is to this day even though he has past. They were certainly a match made from heaven. These two are (were) the best people I know. She is very much deserving of the Jack Ingram prize. We love you Donna.

I met my true love at a gas station when I was 17. My dad ran out of gas and stop in to get gas. After pumping the gas, he realizes that he did not have his wallet. Therefore, they told him that he had to levee something until he got back with the money. However, he had nothing to levee but me. In addition, after 31 years we are still together and so much in love.

I met my one true love at the Harford Mall. I was a senior in high school, single and out for a fun, girls night with some of my friends. As we were shopping, my friend noticed a Marine dressed in his full dress uniform. I noticed the guy with him in the brown jacket. I was normally shy, but I remember grabbing my friends arm and saying, "I am going to marry the guy in the brown jacket." As the evening went on, my friend kept talking about the Marine in his uniform. I was tired of hearing her talk about him, so I went over to ask him to introduce himself to my friend. As we talked, the group of guys decided they wanted to take the group of girls out to dinner. I was thrilled, because this would mean I was going to meet the guy in the brown jacket. We had a great time at dinner and eventually exchanged phone numbers. The guy in the brown jacket, or Dustin gave all the girls a hug good night and came to me. He shook my hand and told me how great it was to meet me. From that day on we were inseparable. We talked on the phone for countless hours and tried to spend as much time together as possible. We were engaged within 3 week of meeting each other and married a year later. He was a Marine, so part of the reason for the quick marriage was because he was stationed in California and the long distance relationship was hard for us. This year we are celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary and I couldn't be happier.

I met my "one" my junior year in high school. He lived next door to me. I had not ever really talked to him, we didn't go to the same school at the time. One afternoon I was coming home with a girlfriend, and my now husband and his friend were mooning us from his window! It was love at first "moon". We started talking and soon after become an item. We have been together since then, we will be married 14 years in May. It has been love at first "moon" since!

My now husband and I were at a Junior High School dance. All of a sudden each of us felt strange hands on our shoulders that pushed us in an 180 degree turn that resulted in facing each other. The two people that had turned us to face each other told us to dance together and we did. We stayed together from that point on. We were off and on throughout the years since we were so young at the time. Everytime we heard each others name we litterly went weak in the knees and our hearts skipped beats. Five years later, during College break we were married at the age of 20. We are both so fortunate to have met our soul mates. Many people never do. Just this weekend my husband was just talking about relationships and in his conversation he said couples are not like us, "we were made for each other." I still get goose bumps when he says something like that. He doesn't even know the impact of his statement. It just came natural to him. Oh by the way the couple that put us together 42 years ago did not know each other. They said they were looking at us and decided to put us together because they though we belonged with each other. Amazing isn't it!

I met my "one" while working for the Cecil County Government. He walked by my window every day for at least 6 months afaid to talk to me as one of his co-workers told him that I was with him. Finally one day he came into my office to change a light bulb. All of a sudden the other 2 girls I worked with disappeared and while standing on a ladder and changing a light bulb he asked me out. I knew on our first date the next evening that he was "my one." We have been together for almost 6 years and married almost 3 years and he has been changing my light bulbs even since!!!!!

I was at the country palace night club one saturday night with some girlfriends having a good time when I saw this really good looking guy in a cowboy hat smiling at me. He was leaning on the bar dangling a beer bottle just like Bud in Urban Cowboy. He came over and asked me to dance and we have been together ever since. He had 1 child I had 2 and we have 3 together. We also have 3 grandchildren with one more on the way. In june we will be married for 25 years and every day I love him more.We are going to Nashville for our anniversary as it is only fitting since country music brought us together. Thank you Sherry Hardy

I met my husband just over 6 years ago through a blind date. I had just ended a 9-yr relationship and was disengaged just 1 month before I was supposed to commit a lifetime to this man that I didn't love anymore. I was in a very lonely and desperate place. I dated a few "losers" just to pass time. Then I met my husband through a mutual friend, spoke on the phone over 1-hr the first time, met and had lunch for 5.5 hrs on our 1st date. We already knew then that we're made for each other. He wore a stained, wrinkly shirt on purpose to show that he is confident and very comfortable with who he is. No pretense, no games. The sucker in me fell for these qualities in a man. We dated for just 7 months and were engaged, during which he was almost deployed to war several times. There were times when we layed in bed and he would tell me "code RED means I'd have to go, no questions asked." I told him I'd wait for him, however long it would take. Fortunately, he did stay, and we were married 4 months later. He was so handsome in his dressed blues uniform. Now I'm living a fairy tale... I married an officer and a gentleman. Sometimes you just have to take a leap of faith to see what's out there instored for you.

My senior year of high school I attended a party with my friends and saw Jim at the party, that evening we all stayed at the same place. When he came in I was laying on the floor covered in blankets and he came over and asked if he could share my pillow with me and I let him, who knew that would leave to the best conversation of my life. We stayed up talking all night about our families and our future hopes. I told him I hoped he wasnt expecting anything from me and he laughed. I had a boyfriend at that time and I knew right then and there he wasnt the guy for me, I was head over heels for Jim right away. The next morning I went home and told my mom I would marry him. Two years later, I married my best friend!!!! We have been together for 7 years and married for 5! I am so lucky to have been at the right place at the right time!

As a shy child of 6 or 7, I went to sunday school quite often. At that impressionable age, my mother made me go even though I didn't want to. I expected to learn about angels. I never expected to meet one. She had blue eyes and brown curls, and she wore the cutest little dresses. She didn't always come to sunday school, but I found myself looking forward to seeing if she would be in class. When she was, I got a lump in my throat. When she wasn't, I couldn't wait to just go home and get out of that place. As we grew, not really knowing each other well, we became friends. I still had that boyish crush on her, and sometimes, I felt that she felt the same way. I never asked. By the time we were in middle school, our church youth group was planning to go to a youth retreat in Colorado. On a bus! For a month! I found myself eager for the fundraising events, like the car washes and newspaper drives, knowing that she would be around. At those events, sometimes, I could swear she liked me. I never asked. On the trip, we were basically inseparable. We sat together, ate together, and laughed together. We talked and talked. Even though she talked about her boyfriend, and I talked about my girlfriend back at home, we grew closer. Maybe it was the high altitude in Colorado or the fact we were so far away from everyone. We even shared a few kisses. By the end of the trip, I would even say we were best friends. Maybe more, maybe not. I never asked. As the bus pulled up to our church, after the trip, once again, she went her way and I went mine. We still remained friends. In high school, we ate lunch together everyday. We talked about everything, that is, except our feelings for each other. I never asked. The timing was never right. When I was seeing someone, she wasn't. When she was seeing someone, I wasn't. I graduated and went to college. She graduated a year later and went to work. She was never far from my mind, however. One weekend, I was home from college. I hadn't seen her in a while, so I figured, what the heck! I showed up at her front door not knowing what to expect. She let me in and we talked and talked for hours. I finally let her know how I'd always felt. And yes, I finally asked. We kissed. The timing was finally right. We started dating, and the rest is history. We now have four great kids and we will be celebrating our 25th anniversary later this year! And she still has those blue eyes and long brown curls!

I was sixteen when i met my husband zeke at the local tastee freeze..he was an eighteen yr old hippie boy living on the streets who had nothing but love to offer. No car, no job...nothing. I was in awe at his contentment and his willingness to keep his head held high. Within two months we ran away to get married. I can still hear the echoing words of my father who said if there is no food on the table Renee that love shit will fly right out the window...well that will be 34 yrs on friday and yes we had a few hungry nights but the love didnt die...it has been a wonderful life with him. We had 5 beautiful children and now four beautiful grandchildren and I am still in awe of him and always will be.

I met my (now) husband at work, he was my new supervisor, and we started out as friends. He was going thru a nasty divorce, and I had been divorced for over 20 years. Neither of us were looking for any one, we just hit it off and now have been married for almost 8 years. He is the light of my life, and is the highlight to any of my days. Should I mention, he is younger than me, and took on the resposiblity of having 2 sons who love him to death, and now have a father that they never had growing up?

In 1978, in high school, some of my friends bet me that I couldn't get a certain girl to go out with me, because she was much classier than us. I took the bet, and a couple of days later called her house, only to be told by her seven year old niece that I couldn't speak to her because she didn't know me. I finally got to speak to her and got a date. I won the bet, and 25 years later we are still together. Through military service, the birth of three children, the loss of two, cross country moves, more ups and downs than we ever could have imagined we have been in love with each other, and taken care of each other. Never could I have imagined a stupid bet could impact my life the way it did. I know God made this meant for us to be together, and we will be to the end.

My wife and I met on an Amtrack train between NY and Boston. Alone, not much of a story, however I am Australian, and was living in England, only in NY for a few days visiting friends for a Christmas party. I got caught up doing something and missed my ride from the city, so I caught the train the next morning. My wife was attending college in Boston, but was back in NJ for a funeral of an old High School boyfriend who died of cancer. Neither of us was looking for someone, but when I got on the train I saw her and asked if I could sit next to her. When she said yes, I handed her by bags and asked her to hold them like we were old friends. We talked for 4 hours (until I had to get off @ New London, CT). I still remember she was wearing no makeup, sweats, had her hair pulled back, but I thought she was beautiful. We stayed in contact. she from Boston, me from London and several months later I came to visit her in Boston. We spend 4 months dating where I would call her and ask what she was doing on the weekend, when she would say nothing, I would say, great go to the airport, there is a ticket waiting for you. We have been married now almost 7 years, and have 3 beautiful children. I am so grateful that I missed my ride that day..!!

My first meeting is not as romantic as the ones I have read so far. I met my husband while having cocktails after work with a co-worker. I decided I wanted to play a game of billiards so I put up a challenge. I ended up playing several games against my future husband due to the fact I was insistant that he was not that good and I could beat him. Well that never happened. lol. But the funny part I wanted to beat him so bad was that he was talking about a friend of his that was a professional billiard player and how good he was. All I remember was that I thought he was talking about himself. I thought what a arrogant thing to say when you first meet someone. So I tried harder and harder to win to spite him. Anyway, he claims to have felt sorry for me (losing) and asked me out to dinner. And now he's been making me dinner for over 19 years.

Well I met my husband talking on the internet one night. He was out of work because he had surgery so he had subscribed to the internet just to pass the time. I was searching for members online and had read his profile and he sounded pretty interesting to me so I started chatting with him. After a few months of chatting online he asked if we could meet, I told him sure as long as it was a public place, so we decided to meet at the mall, he wanted to know what I looked like so he knew who he was looking for,(I think it was to see if he was really going to show up or not). Well he arrived at the mall first and was sitting waiting when a girl had come up and asked him if anyone was sitting there, well she was the complete opposite of what I had described to him and he thought what a horrible trick I had played on him, so he got up and walked away. Well he eventually came back and sat back down and a few minutes later I had walked in, I asked him if he was Mark, and he said no, so I apologized and started to walk off when he started laughing and said yes I am Mark. He then told me the story of what had happened and he thought I had put a friend up to a joke just to see what he looked like first so he said he had to play a joke on me. Well wasn't a friend of mine that sat next to him. After a year of dating he knew I loved dolphins and the beach so he took me to Ocean City, MD and ended up proposing, after the proposal dolphins came swimming by, which looked almost like it was planned. Well our "vacation" got cut short due to the fact that a hurricane was coming up the coast. Needless to say that 8 years later we are happily married with 3 wonderful kids.

I was a male bank teller when a young lady approached me and asked where the personell department was located. I told her. When she got home that day she told her parents that she met the man she was going to marry! I was dating another woman at that time. I went in the Coast Guard a week after the bank hired her as a secretary and re-met her on my first leave at a YWCA dance. The rest is history. We will be married 45 years on May 25th.

Congrats to Vanessa! Great story but funny! I know the time is up but I wanted to share my story..Tuesday Sept 20,2005 I was sick and needed to call my captain and let him know I would not make it to clean up at the fire house. Well I was not sure if I had the right phone number so I blocked my number in case it was the wrong #. Some guy answered and I knew by his voice it was not the person I wanted to call..So I started playing with this guy's head and had him completely confused because someone was supposed to be calling him to meet. We got to talking and I finally said look sorry I really meant to call someone else wasnt sure of their # so blocked mine incase...he laughed. He said well who are you really? I told him and he told me who he was and come to find out his family knew my family and my family knew his..(due to the same construction business were in) he told me he had just got back from the outback and i said thats a good resturant but bugaboo is my favorite! and he said well do you want to go to dinner there tommorow night? So Wednesday Sept 21, 2005 we met and went to dinner. The next 4 nights we were together. Sunday September 25 he kissed me for the first time and I never felt anything like that before and I knew I was in love and he was the one! Then he asked me what my plans were for the next night (Monday Sept 26,2005) since it was my birthday because he wanted to take me to dinner and my parents were already taking me and i said come with us! you can meet my parents! He went with us my parents loved him! Afterwards he said I wanted to wait and kiss you on your birthday but I couldnt wait any longer! Then he asked me (on my birthday) if it would be us from then on! It has been us since! This year will be 3 years and when the time comes for wedding bells when I am done nursing school..our song will be "You had me from Hello" by Kenny Chesney..get it?
