NIGELLA LAWSON'S HUSBAND DEFENDS HIMSELF
Only a day after UK newspaper The Mirror's Sunday People published damning photos of celebrity chef Nigella Lawson appearing to be choked by her husband Charles Saatchi, the 70-year-old man is attempting to offer an explanation for his actions. Saatchi released a statement to the Evening Standard to defend himself after the photographs sparked rumors of his violent temper which seemed to leave his wife in tears.

Charles told the paper, "About a week ago, we were sitting outside a restaurant having an intense debate about the children, and I held Nigella's neck repeatedly while attempting to emphasize my point. There was no grip, it was a playful tiff. The pictures are horrific but give a far more drastic and violent impression of what took place. Nigella's tears were because we both hate arguing, not because she had been hurt." He added, "We had made up by the time we were home. The paparazzi were congregated outside our house after the story broke Sunday morning, so I told Nigella to take the kids off till the dust settled."

Nigella has not publicly addressed the incident.

According to People, Scotland Yard is aware of the article and is assessing whether to investigate further.

DRAMA ON THE SET OF 'ANGER MANAGEMENT'
It appears that the stars of FX's Anger Management are having issues managing their own anger. TMZ is reporting that Charlie Sheen and Selma Blair are at war on the set.

The issues allegedly started when Selma complained to show execs that Charlie was difficult to work with because he is always late and has a shoddy work ethic. Sheen was apparently so frustrated by the situation that he made it known that she was fired from the show and that if she showed up to set on Monday (June 17th) he would refuse to work.

Charlie reportedly wants to replace Selma with Mila Kunis by offering the That 70's Show actress a 10 episode arch which would earn her $1 million per episode.

Network executives are supposedly just hoping it will all blow over.

NICK LACHEY KICKS OFF 'THE WINNER IS'
Nick Lachey will be kicking off his own NBC singing competition series called The Winner Is. According to MTV News, the series follows aspiring singers every week. The singers then decide if they are good enough to remain in the competition for the grand prize of $1 million or if they want to leave early receiving prizes between $10,000 and $50,000. The show aired last night (June 17th), but officially airs on July 11th.

The 98 Degrees singer said, "Well I think what attracted me to the show was basically that it was an interesting concept and not one that we've seen done before and kind of regurgitated the reality concept. It was the idea of combining kind of the excitement of a performance competition show with the strategy of a game show.

He continued, "To me, it's like if you take the battle round of The Voice and combine it with Deal Or No Deal. If those two shows had a baby, the baby would be named The Winner Is."

ED HARDY BLAMES JON GOSSELIN FOR RUINING HIS BRAND
The Ed Hardy brand has hit some hard times in the last several years and Ed himself believes Jon Gosselin is to blame. The brand's namesake revealed to the NY Post that he can pinpoint exactly when it all went downhill for his clothing line despite having been hugely popular with celebrities like Madonna.

Hardy explained that the brand's licenser Christian Audigier developed a friendship with Gosselin and it was that affiliation that destroyed everything. The TLC reality star was repeatedly photographed wearing their label including once on Christian's yacht with his then-girlfriend Hailey Glassman. Ed said, "That Jon Gosselin thing was the nail in the coffin. That's what tanked it. Macy's used to have a huge window display with Ed Hardy, and it filtered down and that's why Macy's dropped the brand. Christian worships celebrities so much, he will get next to anyone who is famous for anything. If he could have gotten Charles Manson in a shirt, he would have."

Ed is promoting the release of his memoir Wear Your Dreams: My Life in Tattoos.

NEW YORK HOUSEWIVES CAUGHT STAGING SCENES FOR NEW SEASON

According to Radar Online, Carole Radziwill and Heather Thomson were taking cues from the crew as they filmed on Meeting House Lane on June 15th.

An eyewitness told the website, "It was like something you would see on the set of a movie or scripted television show. Carole and Heather stood on Meeting House Lane and waited for the crew to call 'rolling,' before walking toward the camera and sitting on a park bench. They even shot the scene twice!" The source continued, "It was extremely contrived and set-up. It lacked all spontaneity and any semblance of reality."
